56x45x25
56x45x25 was an independent space curated by Vista Oral. It was operating in a garage of Silverlake, Los Angeles,
The project aimed to generate discursive networks between Barcelona and Los Angeles -hometowns of the collective’s members- through an organic method of programming resulting from collaborations with agents of the artistic field.
The project’s name, 56x45x25, corresponds to the measurements in cm of the regulatory hand luggage of one of Spain’s largest airlines. It points to the idea that exhibitions or events in the garage would be carried out with components easily transportable between the two cities. Moreover, and in a symbolic manner, the project evidences the impossibility of translation between the two cultures -linguistic limitations and contrasting metric systems- and thus, to the potential richness of cultural exchange through creative practice.
